Don't be stupid...hire Mark Whipple.

His is a winner. Took a 2-9 team to a national championship at UMass in his first year as head coach (beating Paul Johnsson's defending national champs, GA Southern).
He is an offensive genius.
He has a proven track record as a college head coach and turnaround specialist.
He has a Super Bowl ring.
He is an excellent recruiter with established contacts along the east coast and in AZ.
He would take this as his last job; not as a stepping stone to some place else.
He didn't get the BC job in 2007 because he did not want to keep O'Brien's DC and wanted to hire his own. Who can blame him for wanting to hire his own staff?

Although neither an SU alum or "big name" coach, his hiring would be a no brainer by a good AD.

When I took a sports reporting class at Newhouse two years ago, I had to cover a Jamesville-DeWitt High School basketball game. Brandon Triche was on the sidelines, with an injury at the time. I can't wait to see him play some ball! I always heard he was a really, really good player. I also heard that college recruits started paying attention to him in the eighth grade!!! From the video you posted, it looks like he's going to do really well at SU. Thanks for this post!

Based on the first minute of their video, we should feel confident that SU will win several slam dunk competitions for the next few years.
